Cleaning out my closet

Got inspired by a Lifehacker article about getting rid of stuff. First up was a run through of all the books I already read. The ones I don’t expect to read again are in a pile, which I’ll let family and friends go through before handing the rest to the nearest charity for reselling.

Next is looking through the closets to weed out all clothes that I don’t wear or don’t wear regularly enough to warrant the space it takes up. A small pile is already building.

This feels good. It should be a regular event, e.g. every three months. Maybe I should schedule an event in my calendar.

A couple of years back The Believer did an interview with Iranian exile writer/illustrator Marjane Satrapi that among other things goes into the conflict between the east and the west: “If you look closely at all these conflicts around the world, they come down to poverty and economics and resources. The more poverty, the worse the war. Hunger eats civilization.”

The IE8 team has passed the Acid2 test. About bloody time too. Then maybe this site will start to look properly in IE—I’ve never gotten around to correcting the couple of details that fail in IE6/7; e.g. level two headlines don’t line up properly with the paragraphs they relate to.

It’s time to pre-order the Helvetiva documentation film on DVD—for those of us not living near any of the places it was screened during the last few months.

The Expression Engine CMS, which runs the sites on this domain was recently upgraded to version 1.6. One of the very interesting new features is the Multiple Site Manager, which from the description sounds like it would have been very helpful in the implementation of these sites. We’re still running version 1.5.0 here.
